About

Who I am#

I’m Kevo. I run technology and a 24-hour control room for a telematics business in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and have done so for more than a decade. The work is keeping systems up, catching problems before customers do, and spending less to do it: platform uptime above 99.9%, and telecom costs cut by more than 40% through renegotiated contracts and automated billing checks.

I’m also an engineer. When no tool fits a problem, I write one, in Python or Rust, sometimes with a small machine-learning model behind it. Reports that used to take hours now arrive on their own; billing anomalies get flagged for a person to check instead of someone reading every line.

What this blog is for#

Less manual work, fewer outages, smaller bills. These notes are the practical side of that: how I monitor things, automate the boring parts, keep infrastructure cheap, and run a team that works around the clock. Written from Tanzania, where bandwidth, budgets and power are real constraints, which tends to keep solutions honest.

Expect specifics over theory: what I tried, what it cost, what broke, and what I would do again.
